The joy of working with clay is a recent addition to my post-retirement years. My earliest work was throwing pots on a wheel. Not long after starting, I was drawn to the possibilities of working with slabs of clay. Decades of sewing, baking and flower arranging provided inspiration for making items in stoneware and porcelain clay. My work is mostly functional and meant for everyday use.

My husband and I were collectors long before we became potters. I create objects that I’d like in our home. Flowers are more beautiful in a hand made vase and bread is insanely
delicious when baked in a clay pan.

I started with lessons from my husband, Russell Jones. Along with workshops and programs with local potters, we’ve been fortunate to study at the Penland School of Crafts. There we"ve explored numerous mediums and firing techniques with some of the best potters in the industry.

My work has pulled years of other design techniques full circle for me. I’m excited to explore the beauty that can be found in a block of clay while
expanding my techniques and designs.
