Kathleen’s art is largely representational. She is inspired by nature’s beauty and strives to replicate the scenes about her, primarily with oils.

A native of northern Virginia, Kathleen Moran was introduced at an early age to a wide variety of art, thanks to the proximity of galleries and museums in Washington DC. Some of her favorites then, remain among her favorites today. And, while nature’s constant yet continually changing beauty are her primary inspiration (particularly skies and water), visiting any art museum or gallery still generates a strong desire to head immediately to her studio and paint.

Her art training has been largely informal. A few classes, a few workshops, and - as “life” permitted - a lot of practice, attempting to emulate the many artists she admires. Work and family took her to India, Southeast Asia, South America (most significantly, Ecuador) and she spent several decades in the breathtaking beauty of the US Pacific Northwest states. All of these experiences have helped inform her art, which continues to be primarily created in oils, with some works painted using acrylics.

Today, Kathleen once again lives in Virginia, where she is a member of the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts, as well as the Colonial Beach Artists Guild. Her work may be seen at several venues in Virginia and Maryland, and also seen on her Website and on Facebook . Please contact Kathleen for information on locations where her work may be viewed.
