In addition to arts and crafts workshops and displays, Samuels Public Library offers information related to the Front Royal-Warren County Artisan Trail.

Samuels Public Library’s mission is to bring people, information, and ideas together to enrich lives and build community. Not only does the library provide access to books and periodicals, it offers General Education Development (GED) and English as a Second Language classes; writing, genealogy, and art workshops; speakers and programs on local history and culture, science, art, music, and more. Visit our website at for more information about the library, to view our full events calendar, and register for programs.

Samuels Public Library can trace its roots back to January 18, 1799, when the Front Royal Librarian Society, the second subscription library in the state of Virginia, received its charter. In 1952 Dr. Bernard Samuels donated a building to house the Library. This generosity was acknowledged through the renaming of the Library. Walter Samuels followed in his brother’s path, when upon his death in 1976, he left a large bequest to the Library. This commitment enabled the Library to build a new facility which opened to the public in 1980. With continued community growth, it became apparent early in the 21st century that it was once again time to build a new, better, more modern Library for the citizens of Front Royal and Warren County. The Warren County Board of Supervisors funded the building project, and on June 10, 2009, the new Samuels Public Library opened its doors to our community. Since 2009, library programming and resources have expanded tremendously. Visit us to learn more.
