I specialize in the art and beauty of living plants; from wedding bouquets to serene table landscape arrangements, my art lives and breathes before you.

I have always had a love of nature and it’s intricacies on both the grand scale and the finest complexity of the smallest creations even as a small child. It has been a life long love of gardening, horticulture, and flowers that inspired me to create Tamara’s Design, a business that brings those passions together artistically through designing landscapes, interior plantscapes, and event floral arranging. My designs reflect the detail in texture, color, and form that are found in nature. I find that conveying a sense of movement brings an essential element giving a naturalistic and inviting feel to interior “landscape” arrangements. My botanical arrangements are created to pull the viewer into the design as if it were a miniature world to explore.

I grow most of the unique and varied plant and flower material used in my work: mosses, ferns, miniature hostas, succulents, airplants, trees, herbs, orchids, and staghorn ferns. I particularly enjoy incorporating “found” items whether it be driftwood, seedpods, or an antique that catches my eye and can be adapted as a container or accent. It is the challenge of modifying these found items with practical mechanics into a suitable vessel for an arrangement to live, as well as to find complementary plant material that will follow the line and form even after it grows, that makes each piece an artistic, horticultural, structural and aesthetic study for me. I learn something new each time.

I am also the Co-Founder of The Village Artisans of Port Republic, not only was it important to me to promote the art and history of Port Republic but as a former educator and special educator I understand the importance art and creativity brings to each and every life. We will have tremendous opportunity to develop programs for all age groups and interest levels. As well as facilitate the potential for one to see art integrated into many facets of daily living.

I am a member of the Garden Club of Virginia; Spotswood chapter. My garden in the Village of Port Republic was featured on the 2012 VA Historic Home and Garden Tour. I volunteer as the Executive Director of the Port Republic Museum, to preserve the community’s rich history.
