I was born in North Wales, and began my interest in art at 8 years old, drawing and painting birds for my school’s Ornithological Society magazine. Later my father’s military career led me to Berlin where I took up pen and ink and captured the amazing architecture of the city.

I moved from London to the United States in 1993. For fourteen years I ran my own Marketing and Advertising Agency which involved me in commercial and graphic art. It was during this time that I began painting more earnestly. I am a self-taught artist who creates landscapes in watercolor and pastel.

I find inspiration in the dramatic changes of light and shadows in nature. I strive to capture these moods and atmospheres in my art. The changing seasons bring their own treasures - rustic sienna of dying marsh grass, bright green shoots emerging in spring, the bay and refuge transformed by winter snow. I believe in a purist approach, meaning that no whites or blacks are used in my paintings. In addition to landscapes and coastlines, I like to capture the wonderful colors of birds in their natural habitats. Check out my website to see examples. I use the white of the brightest white paper on the market, to create lighting effects that result in a dramatic composition.

World events have sometimes inspired me in my work. My painting of “Miracle on the Hudson” was featured on FOX News in 2010. I have exhibited work in numerous juried shows here and in the UK, and am now pleased to be part of the Chincoteague art community.

I like to provide customers with a special memory of Chincoteague. The full range of my work at the gallery includes:
